“A Strong reason lies behind every simple activity”. Asirvad Development Foundation has organized a free medical camp for all the staff and their family members of AMPL, Chennai Division. This Medical camp has not only focused on employee’s health but also has provided a platform for all the employees of Chennai Division to meet each other with their family members and share their wishes. ADF has completed 14 free eye screening camps in all the branches of AMPL in and around Chennai city. Without the co-operation of the branch members it is difficult to organize camps successfully. During few camps we have noticed the Field Development Officers (FDOs) does not have sufficient time to do health check-up for them as they are engaged in mobilizing people to the camps. So this medical camp for the staff was the platform provided for all the staff of AMPL, irrespective of office, designation, Junior & senior etc., participated and benefited the camp.
While planning to organize a medical camp for the camp, ADF has decided to add more inputs not only an eye camp and also for dental, diabetic etc., In general the staff of AMPL are very busy and also it is hard to bring them together in one place. Hence, ADF has planned for a Medical camp instead of only an Eye camp. Nowadays, in general medical facilities are expensive but it is very high for specialized treatments like Dental care and Eye care. Hence, ADF has concentrated on these fields and provided the facilities. In India even children are prone to diseases like Diabetes due to sudden changes in food habits, life style, Tension, stress, Work load etc., and so we have arranged for the Diabetic screening camp too in the same place.
Chennai based Uma Eye Hospital for Eye care, SRM Dental University for Dental care and Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes specialists centre for Diabetic camp jointly involved in this noble service. These three hospitals are Masters in their respective fields in organizing camps and providing treatment. 83 staff of AMPL and their family members were benefited in this special medical camp. Uma Eye Hospital’s six member’s Medical team headed by Dr. Gayathri checked and counseled the participants, SRM Dental University’s ten member medical team headed by Dr. Sudharsan treated the patients. Dr. Mohan’s Diabetic Specialists’ center’s eight member medical team headed by Dr. Geetha diagnosed the patients. The camp started at 10.00 am and concluded by 1.00 pm.
Some of the staff members were diagnosed by vision related problems and some diagnosed with diabetic problems through this camp. The participants have come to know their health related problem in the initial stage itself and they were referred to visit the concerned hospitals. We understood, few staff members visited the hospitals again and are currently under medication and follow-up. The SRM Dental University PG students and professors enlightened our staff camp by providing free treatment to the patients in our campus with their mobile dental unit. We are confident that this camp arranged for the staff and their families would have benefited a lot with the few feedbacks received from some of the participants.
