Eye Camps Inauguration at Madurai

Towards expanding Asirvad Development Foundation’s (ADF) charity activities in all divisions of Asirvad Microfinance Pvt. Ltd (AMPL), ADF inaugurated its services to the community in Madurai on the 12th February 2011. This was done in a small function held in AMPL’s Madurai Divisional office. It was a privilege to have Shri. S.V. Raja Vaidyanathan, Chairman - ADF to be the Chief Guest.Dr. Suryakumar and Dr. Aruldas from Government Rajaji Hospital’s Ophthalmology department, Madurai graced the function with their esteemed presence. Mr. S. Gopinath, Head – Operations of AMPL, Chennai and Mr. Sudhakar, Divisional Manager of AMPL – Madurai Division was also the dignitaries in the Dias.

Mr. Sudhakar, Divisional Manager of AMPL-Madurai Division during his introductory message welcomed the participants and honoured the dignitaries. Lighting the ‘Kuthuvilaku’ as a traditional procedure was done by all dignitaries present in the Dias. Dr. Suryakumar of Madurai Rajaji Hospital during his felicitation speech candidly appreciated the charity performances of ADF in the past in Chennai and surrounding areas. Initially, he was updated about ADF and its services through ADF’s Inaugural issue Newsletter. Mr. Gopinath during his speech urged the importance of free medical camps and requested the community to enjoy ADF’s services in Madurai. Also, he mentioned the initiatives of ADF team in Chennai for the underprivileged which is worth appreciation.

Shri. S.V. Raja Vaidyanathan, during his Chief Guest’s address thanked the dignitaries for their esteemed presence for the function. He admired the medical team from Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai for their magnanimity to be a partner of ADF and conduct Free Eye Screening Camps and perform Cataract Surgeries at no cost. He explained the statistical data of the patients benefited during the free camps in Chennai. Mr. S.V. Raja Vaidyanathan also enlightened the participants about the future plans of the Foundation (ADF) and wished the ADF team’s effort all success.

Mr. M. Sekaran, Co-ordinator of ADF, Madurai Division delivered the Vote of Thanks. Mr. K. Godwin John, Head – ADF was the Master of Ceremony for the Inaugural function.

The Inaugural ceremony was combined with a "Free Eye Screening Camp" conducted with the support of the medical team from Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. 65 patients were benefited of the Inaugural camp. Most of them are from the beneficiaries of AMPL, Madurai and general community members from the surrounding areas.
